These new Marvel heroes don’t just have superpowers, they are hyper aware of modern culture, politics and optics and fight social injustices.
Marvel Comics officially revealed new superheroes called The New Warriors, which includes a non-binary hero called Snowflake, that will be introduced to the Outlawed miniseries.

The new characters are rumoured to be gradually introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe along side the avengers for a ‘fresh modern injection’ to comic book universe Marvel Studio staff themselves have said ‘lacks diversity’.
The new heroes aren’t your typical run-of-the-mill strong, charismatic, evil fighting icons, now we have LGBTQ twin kids, plus size woman of colour, Reddit moderator and a goth kid who’s into blood play… or at least that’s how some folk on Twitter describe them.
Marvel Safespace and Snowflake are gay brothers, or well, at least one of them is although they both like men. I know it sounds a bit confusing and that is because Snowflake, the smaller of the two, identifies as non-binary.
As it is written, non-binary is a spectrum of gender identities that are not exclusively masculine or exclusively feminine identities that are outside the gender binary.
New Marvel heroes: Safespace, Snowflake are loud and proud SJWs.
“Snowflake is non-binary and goes by they/them, and has the power to generate individual crystalized snowflake-shaped shurikens,” New Warriors writer Daniel Kibblesmith told Marvel.com. “The connotations of the word ‘snowflake’ in our culture right now are something fragile, and this is a character who is turning it into something sharp.”
The taller of the two twins, Safespace, is also one of the newest Marvel New Warriors. “Snowflake is the person who has the more offensive power, and Safespace is the person who has the more defensive power. The idea is that they would mirror each other and complement each other,” he added.
New Marvel Heroes: Screentime is a proud SJW.
Next on the list is Marvel New Warriors’ Screentime, or as Twitter now calls him “Reddit moderator”. His superpowers involve being continuously connected to the Internet after being exposed to his grandfather’s “experimental internet gas.”
“The word ‘screen time’ is only ever used in a sort of restrictive sense, and because we’re doing a story about teenage rebels, a lot of the names are about teens fighting against labels that are put on them. So with our Marvel Screentime, we liked the idea that he has infinite screen time,” Kibblesmith explained.
New Marvel Heroes: B-Negative is a proud Otherkin SJW.
The new superhero ensemble wouldn’t be diverse enough if it didn’t at least have one Otherkin member Meet Marvel New Warriors’ B-Negative. He identifies as a half-human vampire bat after being exposed to Morbius’ blood during a medical emergency as a child.
He’s the cool, yet offbeat kid, who loves 90s music and makes weird pop-culture references and makes cute bat sounds.
“B-Negative is the goth kid. When he was a baby he got a rogue lifesaving blood transfusion, we assume, from Michael Morbius. And now he has a very similar look, and very similar vampire powers,” Kibblesmith said. “B-Negative ages like a regular person (or does he?) and he definitely drinks blood (or does he?), but designer/artist Luciano Vecchio took brilliant inspiration from the ’90s Spider-Man cartoon and gave B-Negative the ‘leech suckers’ that the animated version of Morbius had on his palms.”
Now for the cherry on top; a big beautiful woman of colour who believes in a God, “just not your God.”
New Marvel heroes: Trailblazer is a proud BBW SJW.
Meet Marvel New Warriors’ Trailblazer. She has a “magic backpack” that opens to a small pocket dimension of infinite space and possibility. Trailblazer can pull any item of any size out of her tiny backpack, however, she has no control over what may come out. It’s sure to be oh so random and funny, the creator promises.
“She’s a group home and foster kid who is volunteering at a senior center when this mysterious threat shows up and Night Thrasher runs to the rescue,” he said. “And because she helps him, she ends up in the crosshairs of this new ‘Outlawed’ law…
These new characters are supposed to empower kids that feel bullied by Internet trolls and “racist, fascist Trump supporters.” The writer claimed that they wanted to take names often used by the right-wing to degrade and dehumanize liberal kids and turn it around to the point where, if they are called these things, they can be proud of them.
Issue 1 of New Warriors, written by Daniel Kibblesmith and illustrated by Luciano Vecchio, will be available on sale from April 15.
