Evil Captain Marvel may be Disney’s plan to make her cool

Date:

Captain Marvel had so much potential but unfortunately she is one of the most disliked characters in the MCU. However, she might make the greatest villain.

A lot of people were excited when Disney/Marvel announced that they would be introducing Brie Larson as Captain Marvel into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unfortunately, the execution was poor and, albeit the movie being a beautiful spectacle and a box office success, people just didn’t care too much for her character.

The problem wasn’t inherently with Brie Larson’s performance but rather the character herself. Carol Danvers, in a sense, is larger than life and, as her superhero alter ego, she is known to be the most powerful Avenger of all time.

We all know the saying, “with great power comes great responsibility,” so with even greater power would come even greater responsibility. In a nutshell, all work and no play make Carol Danvers a dull girl.

There’s a reason we got to see so little of Captain Marvel in Avengers: End Game, she had bigger fish to fry. This implies that her duties transcend protecting Earth and human kind. She only made an appearance at the end because her more important duties were complete and she had time to kill.

Captain Marvel is more powerful than Thanos

People often argue that Thanos is more powerful because of the final battle scene in Avengers: End Game. What people fail to note is that she was overpowering Thanos until he removed the Power Stone from the gauntlet and punched her with it.

Captain Marvel is far more powerful than Thanos. So much, in fact, that she overpowered him despite him having on the Infinity Gauntlet. She also survived being punched with the full force of the Power Stone.

Evil Captain Marvel would be awesome

The superhero has already shown a slight indifference when it comes to humankind. There might be a moment where a much a much bigger agenda clashes with Avengers and Captain Marvel is forced to pick a side of the greater good, ultimately making her a villain to Earth, Avengers and humankind.

This won’t be the first time we’ve seen overwhelmingly powerful heroes turn to the dark side. It’s a wonderful story telling tradition; Anakin Skywalker turned into Darth Vader, Willow turned into Dark Willow, and then there is always Vanya Hargreeves.

She’s already evil in the comics

In Captain Marvel issue 13 there’s already an Evil Captain Marvel. Carol Danver turns bad and kills an Avenger! It starts with her hating beginning to hate Earth and then eventually she fights the Avengers. The comic book is called The Last Avenger and this is how it is teased:

One Avenger is dead at Captain Marvel’s hand. Who will be next? And why? What strange allegiance is driving Captain Marvel to the darkest edge?

This issues plot synopsis and cover art has been released showing Captain Marvel overcome by anger and hate. Which is understandable considering her past and the current predicament that she has so far managed to keep at bay.

The Last Avenger comic issue 13

Perhaps this is also why Disney are considering an all female Avengers movie aptly named “A-Force.” The female avengers might need to unite to fight against evil Captain Marvel… if that’s the case, then colour me excited. Heck, she might just become the coolest character in the MCU… bring it on Disney!
