CD PROJEKT announced that one of their servers has been hacked by hackers claiming to be affiliated with mainstream game journalists.
The Witcher developers were targets of a vicious cyber attack that could see hundreds of people lose their jobs. Despite the hack, the studio is not willing to negotiation with these cyber terrorists.

CD PROJEKT have been under fire for the shoddy release of Cyberpunk 2077, one of the most hyped games ever. A lot of people claim that the developer overhyped and oversold the game and were disappointed to find out that the game was a buggy mess.
However, a lot of these reports came from people who were playing Cyberpunk 2077 on original PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles which today is 13 year old tech. Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro owners, although still discovering some bugs, are reporting a pretty solid experience.
We even tested the game out on our Xbox Series X and we were blown away with the performance and visuals. We also believe it is one of the best, and most immersive, games we’ve experienced in along while. Still, some people have a good reason to be angry… but has the anger gone too far?
The mainstream media has been on a bit of a mission to absolutely destroy the image of the once beloved developer CD PROJEKT, even before the game launched. Before people even tried the game the mainstream game journalists blasted the game for being far too problematic and attempted to paint the developers as bigots. So, by the time of its launch the game already had it is fair share of critics, some even hoping for the game to fail right off the bat.
There’s no denying that Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most expansive games of the last generation. It is packed with so much content and so many features. It is true that the developers could have done better by refining some of the better features and completely dumping some of the unnecessary stuff to craft an overall better experience. But CD PROJEKT really wanted to go all out and impress the pants off its fans. With us, anyway, they surely did.
Sadly, we still had the issue of millions of people who already hating the game, even though they weren’t gamers. The LGBTQ community on TikTok blasted with every opportunity. Content creators even went as far as to call for the death of the developers for being ‘transphobes’ and what not. So, naturally, when the game released and didn’t meet the expectation even of its most loyal fans they went full out attack.
The mainstream media put the game on full-blast falsely calling the game unplayable. A lot of these journalists even inentionally reviewed the game for the original last-gen consoles to give it the worst review possible. Most last-gen games were reviews on the pro-editions of last-gen consoles, so why did Cyberpunk 2077 get treated differently?
Later on thousands of angry people, some not even gamers, joined the crusade against Cyberpunk 2077 continuously spamming their social media profiles with very, very hateful messages. And now it has gotten to the point where hackers are trying to completely destroy the company.
Early this morning CD PROJEKT was attacked by a “hacktivist” group that is hellbent on ruining the developer. They stole source code for The Witcher 3, Gwent and Cyberpunk 2077 as well as sensitive information regarding accounting, administration, HR (Human Relations), legal, and investor relations. They also threatened to leak the information if the studio do not meet their demands.
But what is very curious about the threat is that it specifically mentions “their contacts in gaming journalism” suggesting that they are/have worked in tandem with game journalists.
CD PROJEKT stood their ground and said they will not negotiate with these kind of people in a statement on Twitter.
“We will not give in to the demands no negotiate with the actor, being aware that this may eventually lead to the release of the compromised data. We are taking necessary steps to mitigate the consequences of such a release, in particular by approaching any parties that may be affected due to the breach.”
The statement goes on to explain how they are working closely with law enforcement as well as the President of the Personal Data Protection Office and IT forensic specialists to get to the bottom of this.
The statement has been met with an overwhelming negative response from users who are hoping that CD PROJEKT RED goes bankrupt and that the developers who released the buggy game die.
Evidence seems to suggest that a lot of these hateful comments originate from bot accounts as a lot of them solely comment negative stuff on #CDPROJEKTRED and #Cyberpunk2077 hashtags.
Additionally, most people who purchased Cyberpunk 2077, although disappointed, are not this outraged. Both Sony and Microsoft issued a full refund off the back of CD PROJEKT to anyone who wanted it and without even having to return the game, and then completely removed the game their store.
CD PROJEKT have also released several patches which have fixed many of the games pre-existing issues and have also promised free DLC and a next-gen upgrade which still makes the game a worthy buy.
The identity of the “hacktivist” group that attacked CD PROJEKT has not been revealed.
