PAX Aus has named five major games attendees can play in Melbourne next month: Total War: Warhammer 40,000, Alien: Isolation 2, Stranger Than Heaven, Persona 4 Revival and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Four sit together on SEGA’s stand, while Activision will run pre-release multiplayer sessions for Modern Warfare 4.

SEGA has the strongest playable lineup

The official PAX Aus expo-floor announcement gives SEGA four playable games. Total War: Warhammer 40,000 will offer three Space Marine scenarios. Alien: Isolation 2 brings Creative Assembly’s survival horror sequel to Australian players. Stranger Than Heaven will show its combat, and Persona 4 Revival will let visitors try ATLUS’s remake before its February 2027 launch.

Persona 4 Revival may draw the longest queue. The remake rebuilds Inaba with new graphics, interfaces, combat and cutscenes while keeping the murder mystery and school-year structure that made the original so loved. We recently looked at why the remake makes the wait for Persona 6 feel even longer. PAX gives Australian fans a chance to judge the changes with a controller in hand.

Modern Warfare 4 arrives three weeks before launch

Activision will bring a selection of Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer to the show floor. The game launches globally on 23 October for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2, leaving less than two weeks between PAX Aus and release. PAX lists the demo as MA15+, so younger attendees should expect an eligibility check before joining the session.

The demo details stop at “a selection” of multiplayer. PAX has not named its maps, modes or supported player count. Activision’s official game page describes the new multiplayer around grounded gunplay and more fluid movement, but the convention build may cover only part of that system.

Final Fantasy has games, a showcase and hot sauce

Square Enix will offer Final Fantasy XIV Online on Nintendo Switch 2, along with a bracelet activity and themed photo area. Localisation director Michael-Christopher Koji Fox and global community producer Toshio “Foxclon” Murouchi will also host the A Realm Reburned panel. They will tell development stories while working through increasingly hot sauces.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation gets a separate showcase ahead of its 8 April 2027 release. The announcement promises a close look at the remake trilogy’s concluding chapter, but it does not describe the presentation as hands-on. Visitors planning their weekend can use our existing PAX Aus panel guide to fit theatre sessions around show-floor queues.

More than 90 smaller games fill the floor

PAX says the Aus Indie Showcase, PAX Rising and New Zealand’s CODE programme will collectively bring over 90 games. Several of the Australian showcase winners already have distinct hooks, from restoring old cartridges to running a duck empire; our guide to the Indie Showcase winners is a useful starting list.

The rest of the floor mixes hardware, tournaments and creator appearances. PowerA will preview its Meridian Flight Controller before its planned 2027 release, with Bajo appearing at the stand on Saturday and Sunday. EA Sports FC 27 will host a wildcard tournament for two places in the national Red Bull Wings Cup final. Rainbow Six Siege’s Oceania finalists will compete for $40,000 and a place at the Osaka Major.

PAX Aus runs from Friday, 9 October to Sunday, 11 October at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The expo hall closes at 6pm each day, even though the Friday and Saturday programmes continue until 11:30pm. Put the five headline demos early in the day, then use the afternoon for the indie areas and hardware stands where queues usually move faster. Anyone chasing several major demos should also allow time for age checks and session changeovers.
