This morning Sony announced that a Ghost of Tsushima movie is production with film John Wick trilogy and V for Vendetta director Chad Stahelski.
Sony aren’t messing around. They’ve got an Uncharted film adaptation coming out, a Last of Us HBO series in production, and now a Ghost of Tsushima movie directed by beloved action director Chad Stahelski.
Sucker Punch Productions has partnered with Sony Pictures and film director Chad Stahelski to bring Ghost of Tsushima to life and to create some of the finest action scenes one could ever imagine.
Nate Fox, Game Director from Sucker Punch announced that they are working with Sony Pictures to bring the critically acclaimed open-world Samurai game to the big screen.
“The idea of translating our game into a new medium is exciting, and we’re intrigued by the possibilities. We’ve all been brought to tears in a movie theatre surrounded by strangers. (Thanks a lot, E.T.) We’ve all gone to a movie on opening night when the crowd is so excited that they cheer as the lights go down. It’s a group experience that isn’t replicated anywhere else. To think that we could sit in the theatre someday watching Jin Sakai up on the big screen is amazing… I know I speak for everyone at Sucker Punch by sending out a massive THANK YOU to Ghost fans. Your support for the game is what makes opportunities like a movie come true… We’re so happy to be on this ride with you,” Fox told the official PlayStation Blog this morning.
The news comes as a welcoming chaser to announcement of an Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg. Sony Pictures are also working with HBO to bring a HBO The Last of Us mini series to the small screen starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey.
Sony Pictures will be bringing in Chad Stahelski to helm the Ghost of Tsushima movie. He is known for his block buster action movies including the John Wick series and V for Vendetta. He has also been a stunt man and coordinator for a plethora of big budget action movies like Captain America: Civil War and The Matrix.
Fox added: “We are happy to partner with Sony Pictures to make this happen. And Jin is in very good hands with the film’s director. Chad Stahelski created something special with John Wick. His vision for what could be, backed up by years of experience, combined to create some of the finest action scenes ever created. If anyone could bring to life the razor-sharp tension of Jin’s katana combat, it’s Chad Stahelski.”
