The world’s most popular YouTuber announced that he won’t be making any videos for a while because he’s finally going on hiatus.
Felix Kjellberg, better known for his online alias PewDiePie, gifted his fans one last 20 minute LWIAY (Last Week I Asked You) special before going on his much deserved YouTube break.

PewDiePie announced that he won’t be making any videos for a while because, after 10 long years, he is finally ready to step away and on focus on his well being and relationship with his wife Marzia.
“Guys, we did it. After 10 years, I’m finally taking a video,” the 30-year-old content creator announced while cracking open an expensive bottle of whiskey. “Truth is, I don’t really want to take a break, I love making videos, but I feel like I really need to do this.”
When PewDiePie first revealed that he was going to take a break from YouTube in January, 2020, the mainstream media published headlines saying that the content creator was quitting YouTube because he regretted dressing like a Nazi, being racist, etc. That was complete poppycock; mainstream media has a tendency of taking Felix Kjellberg’s quotes out of context to try to slander him or create controversial headlines for clicks and cash.
PewDiePie immediately debunked the media hysteria, “no, I’m not quitting media, as much they want it, but this is my final video.”
Why is PewDiePie taking a break?
YouTube is more than just a job for Felix Kjellberg, it is a career and a super stressful one at that. Felix hasn’t taken a proper vacation for almost 10 years and chose January to do it because it is the slowest month for YouTube.
Why is PewDiePie taking a break?
Google AdSense and YouTube ad revenue drops significantly in January, and, for smaller YouTube content creators, it is often not worth uploading during that month. People are reporting drops as much as 80% and this isn’t expected to get any better until February. Therefore January really is the best month to take a break.
When will PewDiePie come back?
PewDiePie didn’t exactly give a time frame for his departure but he will most likely only be away for two weeks to a month, tops. Most Europeans take 4-6 weeks vacations leave each year, and considering that Felix hasn’t gone on a proper holiday in ages he could use this opportunity to travel a little, and see his family and friends.
Sadly PewDiePie’s break isn’t just from YouTube but from the internet in general. He will not be posting on any of his socials so if you want to get your PewDiePie fix you’re going to need to rewatch some of his old content.
