Lewis Tan confirms he’s playing Johnny Cage part in MK movie

Date:

Wu Assassins actor, Lewis Tan, sneakily tweeted confirming that he is playing Johnny Cage’s part in Mortal Kombat. But there might be a catch.

The Mortal Kombat movie reboot has been fully cast and is currently filming in South Australia. All roles have been announced bar one: Lewis Tan’s.

Did you know?

The Wu Assassins’ star had been confirmed to be playing a leading role along side Australia’s Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade driving many to believe he is most likely playing Johnny Cage.

For those unfamiliar with the games, or the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie, Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade become an item. It’s not much of a spoiler seeing as their daughter, Cassie Cage, has been a part of the roster since Mortal Kombat X.

Although Tan alluded to playing Johnny Cage with his tweet, “heads will roll,” obviously referencing the fighter’s famous “Head Pop” fatality from the original game, there might be a huge twist yet to come.

We have already assumed that, instead of having a Van Damme inspired Cage, we might be seeing a Brandon Lee type of Johnny, but the truth might actually be that the part of Johnny Cage might have been entirely rewritten.

Mortal Kombat producer reveals Johnny Cage was too white for movie

Lewis Tan may be playing the part of Johnny Cage, but not actually playing him. That would explain why they haven’t yet revealed who he is playing. It would only cause more confusion seeing a lead character that is not already part of the film/game lore.

We are hoping that they don’t rewrite and replace Johnny. We took a vote, and Sausage Roll unanimously agree that he is the coolest character in Mortal Kombat.
