Disney’s silence on Alita has everybody worried, even the cast and producers. Now they are asking for your help to get a sequel.
Alita: Battle Angel, to many, is more than just a movie. It’s the last bastion of hope that Hollywood hasn’t given up on originality and a sign that producers are willing to take a chance. But as 2019 comes to end it seems that Disney are relapsing into old habits.

Ever since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox and their franchises they’ve remained scarily quiet on anything Alita… but why? It’s not like Alita: Battle Angel was a box office flop or even a financial failure. It doubled its budget on the international box office alone, earning more than Terminator: Dark Fate. Not only is that alright, that’s actually pretty amazing for manga film adaptation.
Box office sales aside, the Alita: Battle Angel home media sales are also booming and Blu-ray copies are flying off shelves in stores around Australia.
Commence Operation #AlitaSequel!
Considering that sales are good and the fan base is steadily growing, we can be confident to get a sequel, right? Well… at first we weren’t so worried that Disney had not yet greenlit the sequel since James Cameron currently had two projects in his backlog, but now as production has concluded for one of them and moving along nicely for the other Disney’s silence is worrying… and we should be worried!
It has come to the point where even cast members and producers of Alita: Battle Angel are begging fans to be vocal and demand that Disney greenlight a sequel. So, naturally, if the film makers are worried we should be too.
If you want to see Alita: Fallen Angel you need to act now. Here are 5 things you need to do if you want to see a sequel.
JOIN THE ALITA ARMY
The Alita Army formed when fans of the classic manga, Gunnm, saw the the trailer for James Cameron’s Alita: Battle Angel. Fans united under the hashtag #AlitaArmywhich started trending when the movie hit theatres. It was obvious that a lot of love when into making the film and fans adored the fact that James Cameron had the utmost respect for the source material.
The Alita Army now has, what I’d assume, over 100,000 members with a handful of loyal fans at its core driving the campaign on its newly found official Twitter page that is quickly reaching 1.3 thousand followers.
The key members actively promote the film all-the-while engaging with other fans and even giving away free gear. Joining the Alita Army is crucial because they are the prominent voice for fans today so make sure you follow them on Twitter.
SIGN THE PETITION
When concerns regarding the future of the Alita franchise grew an avid fan named Phillip took matters in his own hands and created a petition for a sequel.
As the movie grew in popularity Phillip’s petition for a sequel accumulated more signatures. It took a few months to hit the 50,000 mark but then suddenly it exploded in popularity and reached 125,000 in a matter of weeks.
Alita herself, Rosa Salazar, and other movie producers have recently encouraged fans who want a sequel to sign the petition. So, if you haven’t already, go and do it now!
LET DISNEY KNOW
Alita’s future is in Disney’s hands and so it paramount that fans get in their face and let them know how badly we crave a sequel. Surely Disney can’t ignore fans, right?
The best ways to get Disney’s attention, apart from spamming their Facebook page with Alita memes, is by using certain hashtags and mentioning key accounts in your posts and Tweets.
Make sure you use the #AlitaSequel and #Alita hashtag and mention the following profiles: @DisneyMovies, @DisneyStudios, @20thCenturyFox, and of course @JimCameron.
BUY THOSE BLU-RAYS
If you don’t own a copy of Alita: Battle Angel on Blu-ray it is vital that you go and buy one as soon as you can. If you already own a copy consider getting the 4K or special edition discs, if they are still available. Heck, you can even buy your friends a copy for Christmas and get them hooked.
Additionally you can buy some sweet Alita merch, just make sure its official and licensed because otherwise the money won’t make it to Disney. To make sure that the merch is legit you can head over to the official Fox store and buy some stuff there.
TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT ALITA
Strapped for cash? That’s understandable, especially around Christmas time… but don’t worry, you can still help! There’s nothing more effective than the word-of-mouth.
Simply telling your friends and family about how awesome Alita: Battle Angel will garner enough interest to pique interest and in turn drive sales. So tell people about how amazing the movie, or even the original manga, is. I guarantee you that curiosity will get the best of them and they’ll cave and check it out.
