Channel Nine has cancelled The Ellen DeGeneres Show in Australia while investigations are ongoing about a “toxic” workplace.

The self-titled talk show starring Ellen DeGeneres (Finding Dory) won’t be airing on Channel Nine while the host is being investigating for a “toxic” workplace environment, despite the show being a smashing success since it first aired on the network in 2013.

Nine announced that reruns of the popular daytime talk show will be taken off air from today, effective yesterday, Monday, August 24. The decision was made as an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct racism and workplace bullying on set are ongoing.

“We are resting Ellen repeats on Nine and have replaced with Desperate Housewives,” a spokesperson confirmed to news.com.au.

Despite The Ellen DeGeneres Show being cancelled in Australia, fans can still get their fix on streaming only sister channel 9Gem, Nine confirmed. But the show will no longer hog a prime time spot on one Australia’s biggest networks.

Ellen Cancelled

The Ellen DeGeneres Show cancelled in Australia by Channel Nine amid investigation.

The networks programming director, Hamish Turner, doubtful for the show’s future as Warner Brothers have not renewed broadcast rights with any of their partner networks.

“Do we have rights beyond this year? The answer to that is no,” Turner told TV tonight.

He continued: “We’ll wait to hear from Warner Brothers as to the results of their internal inquiry, because at the moment, they haven’t even come forward with what the show is, or when it might go back into production. We’re waiting to see what the U.S. are doing and then obviously we’ll need to negotiate rates.

“There’s a lot to go under the bridge before we even get to that stage. We haven’t got a clear picture yet.”

The investigation into The Ellen DeGeneres Show is supposedly nearing a conclusion at WarnerMedia. Three top producers have already been fired; this includes executive producers Ed Glavin and Kevin Leman and co-executive producer Jonathan Norman
