Netflix rumoured to be in talks with Tom Holland about starring as Link in a television series adaptation of The Legend of Zelda.
The streaming giant appears to have an affinity for television series adaptation of beloved games. After The Witcher, they are now working on Overwatch, Assassin’s Creed, Devil May Cry and reportedly The Legend of Zelda starring Tom Holland as well.
Netflix have allegedly acquired the rights to the classic Nintendo game IP The Legend of Zelda and are interested in casting Spider-Man actor Tom Holland as Link.
The rumour followed the announcement that Ubisoft partnered with Netflix for a a live-action and an animated television series adaptation of Assassin’s Creed.
Netflix is also working with Blizzard/Activision to bring a ‘MANGA-esque’ animated adaptation of the popular 6v6 shooting game Overwatch.

The original rumour of Netflix making a Legend of Zelda series started in 2015, however Nintendo was quick to deny them.
The rumour resurfaced in 2018 when Adi Shankar, producer of the Netflix animated Castlevania series, posted on Instagram that he was “working with an iconic Japanese gaming company to adapt one of their iconic video game series into a series.”
The following month Adi Shankar announced that he will be working on a Devil May Cry series which made people second guess the Legend of Zelda rumours.
It’s officially on IMDb.
However, an official IMDB page has recently surfaced for The Legend of Zelda adding fuel to the rumour fire.

The IMDB page states that it is “an animated anthology series based upon several of the games in Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda franchise.”
The response to the rumours have not been positive.
Many people lost faith in Netflix’s ability to adapt games after The Witcher series starring Henry Cavil (Man of Steel).
“It’s liberal Marxist propaganda stamped with The Witcher brand. The series sucks, they butchered the source material,” an annoyed fan wrote.

Another fan jokingly speculated on the plot of the rumoured Netflix adaptation: “Lxnk, an age fluid non-binary Elf-kin, ventures in evil capitalist city in the United States of Hyrule to defeat the fascist Ganondrumpf and save his cis gendered friend Zelda from misogyny.”
Neither Netflix nor Nintendo have confirmed nor denied the rumours and, apart from the IMDb page, there is no information about the series.
