33-year-old Canadian actor known for their role Juno has now legally changed his name to Elliot Page and identifies as a transgender male.
Some of us remember Ellen Page for her spine chilling performance as Haley Stark in the hard hitting revenge thriller Hard Candy, but most people will recognise Ellen as Juno… but those days are gone.

Elliot Page revealed via Twitter that he legally changed his name from Ellen and that he now identifies as a transgender male.
Page’s pronouns are he/they.
“Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, and my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life,” Elliot wrote.
“I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. I can’t begin to express how remarkable to finally love who I am to pursue my authentic self. I’ve been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community. Thank you for your courage, your generosity, and ceaselessly working to make the world more inclusive and compassionate place. I will offer whatever support I can and continue to strive for a more loving and equal society.”
Page demands free gender assignment surgery for all.
In his statement Elliot (formerly Ellen) Page goes on to slam conservatives and politicians who refuse to consider gender-change surgery as a basic human right. He expressed that this should be free and included in a universal healthcare plan.
“To the political leaders who criminalise trans health care and deny our right to exist and to all those people with massive platforms who continue to spew hostility towards the trans community: you have blood on your hands. You unleash a fury of vile and demeaning rage that lands on the shoulders of the trans community, a community of which 40% of trans adults report attempting suicide. Enough is enough,” he added.
Page’s statement concluded: “I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer. And the more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I thrive.”
This isn’t Page’s first time coming out. On February 14, 2014, Page came out as gay during a speech at the Human Rights Campaign’s “Time to Thrive” conference in Las Vegas. They have since been a very vocal supporter of the LGBTQ community.
