Meghan Markle never fired her attorney for defending Johnny Depp

Date:

Meghan Markle wasn’t supposedly dissatisfied and never fired an attorney who was also representing Johnny Depp in libel trial.

David Sherborne was representing the former and now disgraced Duchess of Sussex in a case against the British newspaper. Several tabloids claimed she fired him when she learned that he was also representing Johnny Depp. This is untrue.

Last October Meghan Markle was reported to have fired her attorney on the spot after she reportedly discovered he was also represented Johnny Depp against The Sun in another libel legal battle.

David Sherborne was representing Markle in a libel suit against Mail after they published a letter she wrote to her father Thomas Markle.

Thomas Markle was accused by his own daughter of being a leech and trying to gain fame from her new relationship by speaking to the tabloids.

Though Meghan alleges that the letter was an attempt to make amends, her father doesn’t believe her.

“The letter was not an attempt at a reconciliation. It was a criticism of me,” Thomas said in the witness statement, obtained by Insider. “The letter didn’t say she loved me. It did not even ask how I was. It showed no concern about the fact I had suffered a heart attack and asked no questions about my health. It actually signalled the end of our relationship, not a reconciliation.”

In the letter Meghan slammed her father for speaking to the press and not directly to her, adding that it was very damaging to her appearance.

Meghan got her start in Hollywood thanks to her father’s work as a lighting technician on the show General Hospital. In 2002, Markle landed her first TV role with a guest spot on General Hospital, and she went on to appear in a number of other series that included CutsThe War at HomeCSI: NY and 90210.

Although the timing of his sacking does make it appear that Sherborne was removed due to his connection to Depp, especially considering a lot of major studios were also distancing from the actor in light of the libel verdict, David himself has not publicly confirmed the rumours.

Reports from 2020 claim that Markle was just dissatisfied with his work due a pretrial loss and blamed it on his commitment to the Depp trial but Sherborne and Markle merely parted ways due to other commitments and he was never fired.
