Date:

Adam Sandler did not reprise his famous role as Drac in the Prime Video’s exclusive Hotel Transylvania: Transformania due to Netflix contract.

Many were surprised, some even disappointed, to learn that Adam Sandler did not voice the adored vamp-dad in the Amazon Prime exclusive of Sony’s Hotel Transylvania: Transformania. Instead, YouTuber and impressionist Brian Hull replaced Adam Sander for the role due to a Netflix contract conflict.

The reception to the new Hotel Transylvania movie is lukewarm and that may be because the main star did not return for his role.

Keen eyed listeners may have noticed that Drac was not him usual self. This time around the character was played by YouTuber and impressionist Brian Hull. Although Hull did a great job playing immortal hotelier, it did lack some of the charm and whiskey of Sandler’s performance.

However, Adam Sandler was the only actor who did not return for Hotel Transylvania: Transformania. Selena Gomez and Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Andy Sandberg, even his lifelong chums at Happy Madison Productions returned… so what happened to Adam Sandler?

According to our sources, who are close Sandler’s team, the 55-year-old comedian regretfully, but respectfully, had to turn down the role due to his current contract with Amazon’s Prime Video main competitor Netflix.

In 2020 Adam Sandler signed a four film exclusive deal with Netflix. The new contract is an extension of Sandler’s previous contract which included 4 films and one comedy special, Adam Sandler’s: 100% Fresh.

Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos revealed that he extended Sandler’s contract because he’s a hit on the platform and people “love his stories and humour.”

Happy Madison Production’s Murder Mystery starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Anniston was the most streamed movie of 2019.

There are currently 3 films in production at Netflix including Murder Mystery 2 which is currently filming in Paris, France.

Once Murder Mystery 2, which will also star Jennifer Anniston, premieres on Netflix, presumably late 2023, Sandler will be released from his contract, provided he does not extend it, and may hopefully return as Drac in Hotel Transylvania 5.
