EA SPORTS has revealed the latest group of football legends joining EA SPORTS FC 27, with Sergio Agüero, Christine Sinclair and Pepe headlining the new Class of ’27 ICONs.
The latest additions span several generations of the game, bringing some long-requested names into Football Ultimate Team alongside returning legends and two former Heroes receiving an upgrade to ICON status.
Agüero is perhaps the biggest headline addition, joining the ICON roster after a career defined by prolific goalscoring and one of the most famous title-winning moments in Premier League history. Portugal and Real Madrid defensive great Pepe also joins the lineup, while Christine Sinclair becomes the first Canadian player to receive ICON status.
“To be named an EA SPORTS FC ICON means a great deal to me,” Pepe said. “I always played with intensity, passion, and complete commitment every time I stepped onto the pitch.”
Sinclair described becoming Canada’s first ICON as an “incredible honour,” particularly after helping her country claim its first major international title.
Other new additions include Raphaël Varane and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, alongside women’s football stars Formiga, Hege Riise, Yūki Nagasato, Tobin Heath and Ellen White.
There are also two notable promotions. Lúcio and Yaya Touré, previously featured as EA SPORTS FC Heroes, will return with full ICON status in EA SPORTS FC 27.
Returning ICONs include some of Ultimate Team’s most recognisable names, including Zinedine Zidane, Ruud Gullit, Fernando Torres, Andrea Pirlo, Gianluca Zambrotta and Bastian Schweinsteiger.
EA says EA SPORTS FC 27 will feature more than 21,000 players across 800 clubs and national teams, alongside over 140 stadiums and more than 35 leagues.
Players who pre-order the Ultimate Edition or Ultimate Plus Edition by August 31 will also receive an untradeable 85+ OVR International ICON Player Pack containing one of the 18 newly announced or returning ICONs. You can read our full FC 27 hands-on preview if you need some convincing.
With Agüero finally entering the ICON conversation, Sinclair making Canadian football history and fan favourites such as Touré receiving an upgrade, the Class of ’27 should give Ultimate Team players plenty of new legends to chase when EA SPORTS FC 27 arrives.
