Grand Theft Auto VI teaser likely planned for later this year (2022)

Date:

Rockstar Games confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI development is “well underway” after hearing rumours about an imminent teaser/trailer in 2022.

According to our sources, Rockstar Games had planned to tease Grand Theft Auto VI at last year’s Game Awards to appease fans who had lost faith in the company after the botched definitive trilogy remaster. Sadly, that not happen but they’ve assured us that the next-gen game is “active development” which is “well underway.”

Last year a source disclosed to us that Rockstar Games were planning on teasing the next Grand Theft Auto game at the Game Awards.

Rockstar Games reportedly washed their hands off the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy: Definitive Edition, the source told us.

“The game is is truly unsalvageable,” the source claimed, revealing that the developer was ready to showcase their next game.

“They’ve taken a look at the assets and coding and have decided to write the project off completely. People who purchased the game can expect a couple of patches to iron out some issues, but that’s about it. Fixing the graphics and other performance issues is out off the question,” they added.

The insider added: “Rockstar Games know that they need to make some big decisions moving forward, one of those being cutting ties with Grove Street Games. They’re also planning on making a big announcement before the end of the year that both fans and investors should be excited about.”

At first we speculated that the big announcement was slated for the Game Awards in 2021, but — sadly — we were months off. However, Rockstar Games have now officially confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI is in “active development” and that it is “well underway.” Perhaps the big tease is slated for this year?

“With the unprecedented longevity of GTAV, we know many of you have been asking us about the new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series,” a spokesperson for Rockstar Games said in a statement.

“With every new project we embark on, our goal is to always significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered — and we’re pleased to confirm that active development of for the next entry of Grand Theft Auto series is well underway.”

The Rockstar Games’ rep added that the company is excited to share more news on Grand Theft Auto VI in the near future, which could be as early as 2023 fiscal year which begins this July (2022).

The “definitive” next-gen version of the game has been announced to officially launch on PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X|S on March 15, 2022.

Rockstar Games may be planning on dropping a small teaser for Grand Theft Auto VI with the release of the next-gen version or shortly after. A trailer for the highly anticipated open-world game would be a great way to end the 2022 fiscal year.

Analysts suspect that Grand Theft Auto Vi may release on next-gen consoles and PC late 2023 or early 2024.
