The Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Definitive Edition is a disaster. Fans are questioning Rockstar Games decision to outsource the popular trilogy to a bottom tier developer, Grove Street Games.
Expectations were high and the hype was real for the definitive edition remaster of the classic Grand Theft Auto Trilogy. Sadly, what was delivered is glitchy butchered mess of a game and it is all Grove Street Games fault.

Bad textures, weird player models, broken physics, and censorship is not something you’d expect from a Rockstar Games title. The studio is synonymous with high quality games and have been developing top tier products since before 1999. But they’ve really dropped the ball with the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Definitive Edition.
The remaster of, what literally is, the most popular game series of all time is being compared to crappy mobile games, and that is possibly because the studio that handled the remaster, Grove Street Games, has very little experience in making quality games.

Based in the United States, Grove Street Games is a modest to medium-sized developer. In spite of the fact that they promise to produce novel games, their portfolio lacks creativity. The majority of their work has been porting popular video games like Max Payne and Ark: Survival Evolved to mobile platforms like iOS and Android.
One of Grove Street Games only original titles was the PlayStation 2 Ghostbusters: The Video Game which received a mediocre score across the board. The studio also made mobile ports of most classic Grand Theft Auto games, and that just might explain why Grand Theft Auto Trilogy: Definitive Edition is so bad.
GTA Trilogy is an upscaled mobile port.
An insider claims that the assets used in the Definitive Editions are the same high-resolution images used in the mobile ports of the old Grand Theft Auto games.
“The definitive edition trilogy is almost a 1:1 port of the mobile games. Grove Street Games just made some adjustments to to the control and the UI and that’s about it,” the insider claimed.
The source concluded: “You can buy all the games from the Android or iOS store for AUD$5 each and play them on a mobile emulator and the experience will be pretty much the same.”
Diversity over experience.
Groove Street Games also revealed that they value gender identity and ethnicity over experience and work ethics.
“Our success comes from the strength of our team, and we do everything we can to create a strong foundation that builds success. Collectively, our team has many years of experience which helps us get better every day. Grove Street Games is a place where people of all backgrounds and experiences can feel welcome, safe and thrive,” a spokesperson for the company said via a press release.

“We believe that the more diverse our team the stronger we are. We thrive on feedback, education, and the broader our perspectives, the better gaming experiences we can create.”

People have compared the remastered trilogy to Mafia: Definitive Edition, and it is evident that Mafia, despite having a smaller budget, looks and performs significantly better than the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy.
Rockstar Games reputation tarnished.
Expectations were already sky high due to Rockstar Games’ track record of high-quality releases. Since then, gamers have questioned the idea to outsource one of the most popular gaming series to a lower-tier developer.
“Do they [Rockstar Games] still care about GTA? Allowing GSG to remaster the trilogy is akin to entrusting your child’s care to an emotionally unstable adolescent,” a disgruntled fan wrote in.
Many fans are growing impatient with Rockstar Games because of many years of silence on their new projects. Grand Theft Auto V originally released on the PlayStation 3 back in September, 2013 — almost 10 years ago. Now the game is about to receive yet another remaster for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and there’s currently very little information on a sequel.
There are many ways in which Rockstar Games may regain the trust of their fans, and one of them is by releasing a little teaser for the upcoming GTA VI.
