Home And Away star found dead at 45 from alleged suicide

Dieter Brummer, who played Shane Parrish on Australian hit soap opera Home and Away, has died age 45 after allegedly committing suicide.

Dieter Brummer, renowned for his role as Shane Parrish on the long-running soap opera Home and Away, passed away at the age of 45. On Saturday afternoon, the actor was discovered dead in Glenhaven, a suburb in Sydney’s north-west.

Steve Comey, a family friend, verified the terrible news on Facebook and provided a message from Brummer’s grieving family, which you can read below.

“On behalf of my family, we post this today with a heavy heart. We lost our handsome, talented, funny, complicated and beloved Dieter on Saturday morning. He has left a massive hole in our lives and our World will never be the same. Our thoughts go out to all of you who knew him, loved him, or worked with him over the years.We appreciate you respecting our privacy at this terrible time,” it read.

The family member operating the account implied that the cause of death might have been suicide and directed people suffering from depression to the national Lifeline.

Stephen Comey, a fellow actor who starred alongside Brummer, opened up about the tragic news, adding, “Heartbreaking news. We have lost a free spirit. Vale Dieter Brummer. Way too young. Way too soon. My sincerest, deepest condolences to his beautiful sister Karlene and all of Dieter’s family & friends. Keep flying young fella.”

The authorities in New South Wales don’t regard his death as suspicious, but admirers of the talented homegrown actor think he may have committed suicide.

“About 1.30pm (Saturday 24 July 2021), officers from The Hills Police Area Command responded to reports of a concern for welfare at a home on Glenhaven Road, Glenhaven,” NSW Police told news.com.au.

“The body of a man was located inside the home. His death is not believed to be suspicious. A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.”

Brummer was a cast member of Home and Away from 1992 to 1996 and won the Silver Logie Award for most popular actor in both 1995 and 1996 for his performances on the show.

He went on to feature in a number of television dramas, including the Underbelly series, Rescue Special Ops, Winners and Losers, and a two-year run on the Australian/International hit series Neighbours, where he played the role Troy Miller in both 2011 and 2012.

Accroding to news.com.au, between performing gigs, Brummer worked as a window cleaner while also having his own, wildly successful business in Los Angeles.
