The announcement came via the set’s official debut video, which opened with an unexpected highlight: “A Boggart Ballad,” an original music video produced by the Jim Henson Company, with characters designed by Jim Henson’s iconic Creature Shop. The whimsical musical introduction set the tone for Lorwyn Eclipsed’s return to one of Magic’s most distinctive and beloved planes.
Lorwyn Eclipsed revisits the dual-aspect world of Lorwyn and Shadowmoor, an enchanted land forever split between endless day and eternal night. Players will once again encounter familiar races such as elves, kithkin, merrow, boggarts, and flamekin, while exploring new creature strategies built around the plane’s mirrored themes of order and chaos.

Wizards of the Coast has also outlined the set’s new gameplay ideas, with a full breakdown of the Lorwyn Eclipsed mechanics now available. These mechanics aim to emphasise the contrast between light and shadow while opening up fresh deck-building opportunities.
Collectors have plenty to look forward to as well, with new card treatments inspired by both sides of the plane. A closer look at what’s on offer can be found in the official card image gallery, along with a detailed guide to collecting Lorwyn Eclipsed.

For those interested in how the set came together, Wizards has also shared behind-the-scenes insights into its creative direction in a design deep dive on Lorwyn Eclipsed, as well as a full overview of the set’s 60-card Theme Decks.
Magic: The Gathering, Lorwyn Eclipsed launches on January 23, 2026, with Prerelease Events beginning January 16.
