It’s been announced that two of Twitch’s most popular streamers, Tim “TimTheTatMan” Betar and Ben “DrLupo” Lup, will no longer stream on Twitch. They’ve abandoned the Amazon-owned company and are now streaming exclusively on YouTube gaming with their buddy Dr DisRespect.

TimTheTatman announced that he’s leaving Twitch to stream exclusively on YouTube gaming. In moving from Twitch, Betar is leaving behind the 7 million followers he’s accrued on the Amazon-owned platform. But he won’t be starting from scratch on YouTube, where he already has 3.8 million subscribers.

It is still unknown what the conditions of TimTheTatman’s exclusivity agreement are because the Google-owned video sharing platform is keeping the specifics of the agreement under wraps.

Betar, in an interview with Insider, stated that the relocation will allow him to spend more time with his family. “When I first started, I had no family duties and was able to [stream] for a long period of time,” he explained to Insider. As a result of having my wife and son, it has become difficult for me to stream as often as I used to be able to. Lupo stated in an interview with The Washington Post that his YouTube Gaming arrangement will allow him to spend more time with his family and that the deal he was presented with would let him to be “secure for life.”

Betar and Lupo’s departures follow similar moves by Jack “CouRage” Dunlop and Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter, and they indicate that YouTube Gaming may be putting more resources into attracting high-profile players to the platform in the future. According to Streamlabs, YouTube Gaming currently receives significantly less hours of viewership than Twitch, so the new additions could help YouTube cut the distance between the two platforms.

Dr DisRespect and Lupo

“It’s been great to see all that TimTheTatman has achieved since being partnered in 2012 on Twitch — whether it was marrying the love of his life and welcoming an heir to the Tatman throne, or the trials and tribulations of achieving his first Fall Guys crown,” a Twitch spokesperson said in a statement. “It’s been a pleasure being part of Tim’s community, and we are proud of everything he has done for gaming.”

Although many have theorised that Twitch’s “outlandish” terms and conditions, as well as their severe enforcement of their policies, are the reasons why TimTheTatman, DrLupo, and many others are departing the game livestreaming site, there is no evidence to support this. But TimTheTatman has previously slammed Twitch for some of their choices.

The 31-year-old livestreamer received a temporary suspension for using his classic troll-call catchphrase “suck my arse” during one of his livestreams. He later had to self-censor and replace the word “arse” with “forehead.”

TimTheTatman also received a strike for honouring his long-term gaming buddy, and now fellow YouTube Gaming partner, Dr DisRespect by dressing up as him during one of his Twitch streams.

TimTheTatman also revealed that he missed playing with his friend Dr DisRrespect after the the two-time was surprisingly banned from Twitch earlier this year.

“It sucks, because he’s banned on Twitch I can’t technically play with him, you know?” Tim replied. “He’s my buddy, but I don’t make the rules, bro.”

Fortunately both DrLupo and TimTheTatman can reunite with Dr DisRespect and, once again, participate in each other’s streams.
