Modern Warfare 2 (2022) to launch early on Xbox Game Pass in October

Date:

Xbox insider claims that the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022) will launch launch early this October for Xbox Game Pass holders.

Microsoft’s Games as a Service platform took a bit of a hit this year after the company announced that their highly anticipated space RPG Starfield developed by Bethesda had been delayed until 2023 — however, an Xbox insider claims that Modern Warfare 2 should fill that void.

Last month the Microsoft-acquired company Blizzard/Activision announced that the next Call of Duty title would be launching October 28, 2022.

While data leaks suggest that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022) will be first playable on PlayStation consoles with a an exclusive open and closed beta, an insider has revealed that the information is outdated.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 started development before Microsoft acquired Blizzard/Activision. The information datamined from the old files not accurate. Sources at Xbox have told me that they intend to give Xbox Game Pass holders early access to the game,” the insider revealed.

“It is my understanding that this will be the last Call of Duty game coming to the PlayStation, that is if Sony don’t allow the Game Pass app on their console.”

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a direct sequel (maybe even prequel) to the critically acclaimed 2019 reboot of Modern Warfare. According to Activision, it is the true next-gen gaming experience and it will also be the engine that will run the highly anticipated update to Call of Duty’s free-to-play battle royal mode Warzone.

“As for the remaining marketing deal with PlayStation, Microsoft are willing to stiff the competition regardless of contractual obligations. This game may the ammunition that Xbox needs.”

Mircosoft/Activision have been very secretive about launch details of the upcoming shooter, and they haven’t even officially announced which platforms the game game will be available on. Unfortunately, the company’s silence on critical launch details have lead some to fear that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (stylized Modern Warfare II) may be an Xbox exclusive.

However, the official reveal for the most played first-person military shooter is just a day away. Microsoft/Activision announced a worldwide official game and live-action trailer reveal for June 8, 2022. Guess we will see what their plan is for Modern Warfare II tomorrow.
