Rockstar Games reportedly will make a big announcement at the 2021 Game Awards to appease disappointed fans.
An insider the revealed that the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy was merely an upscaled mobile game port claims that Rockstar Games will win back fans’ trust with announcement. Could Rockstar Games be planning to reveal Grand Theft Auto VI at the 2021 Game Awards?

Rockstar Games are reportedly washing their hands off the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy: Definitive Edition. “The game is is truly unsalvageable,” a source close to the developer told us.
“They’ve taken a look at the assets and coding and have decided to write the project off completely. People who purchased the game can expect a couple of patches to iron out some issues, but that’s about it. Fixing the graphics and other performance issues is out off the question,” they added.
Rockstar Games released a formal apology on their website stating that the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy: Definitive Edition did not meet their own “standards of quality.”
“The Grand Theft Auto series — and the games that make up this iconic trilogy — are as special to us as we know they are to fans around the world. The updated versions of these classic games did not launch in a state that meets our own standards of quality, or the standards our fans have come to expect,” a spokesperson for the company said.
“We have ongoing plans to address the technical issues and to improve each game going forward. With each planned update, the games will reach the level of quality that they deserve to be.”
However, after evaluating the damage, Rockstar Games have reportedly decided that fixing the broken game is not an option.
“The so-called Definitive Edition uses low-res textures and low-poly models from the mobile port. It also also shoddily ported over to PC via software. To get the game anywhere close to Rockstar’s standards of quality the developers will need to start from scratch,” the insider added.
Rockstar Games has already re-listed the original versions of the three games on their official launcher, which they have made available for free to anyone who has purchased the Definitive Edition on PC. Because all three titles are still unavailable for purchase on the individual digital distribution platforms, console gamers are left high-and dry, unfortunately.
After the release of Grand Theft Auto Trilogy: Definitive Edition, Take-Two Interactive’s stock plunged by USD$30 within minutes of the game’s release, indicating that the game was a complete failure. However, according to our insider, Rockstar Games has devised a strategy to turn the situation around.
The insider added: “Rockstar Games know that they need to make some big decisions moving forward, one of those being cutting ties with Grove Street Games. They’re also planning on making a big announcement before the end of the year that both fans and investors should be excited about.”
It is likely that this “big announcement” will take place at 2021 Game Awards that is set to take place on December 11th. Could they be planning to officially announce Grand Theft Auto VI? Or perhaps reveal their current project titled JUDAS? Or maybe it is just a confirmation that next-gen remaster Grand Theft Auto V will be free to people who purchased the Trilogy on console.
