New evidence on Dr. DisRespect and Spotify video/streaming integration

Date:

Spotify Gold: a fully fledged video integration is set to go live in September and premiere Joe Rogan’s exclusive podcast. Will The Doc be joining him?

Spotify are amping up their service with video integration, but what a lot of people don’t know that is that it will have livestreaming capabilities making it the perfect alternative for YouTube and Twitch.

OPINION: JoyFreak is the best alternative to Resetera.

Earlier this year Joe Rogan announced that he will be moving to Spotify in September after he signed a 100-million dollar deal with the audio streaming giant.

Although the details of the exclusive deal remained mostly private, the former MMA fighter turned comedian confirmed that the first exclusive would be live on Spotify on September 1st, 2020.

One of The Joe Rogan Experience most appealing aspects is the fact that people can watch the entire unedited podcast; from Joe’s bathroom breaks, to guest meltdowns. Fans were concerned that, by moving to Spotify, the podcast would be strictly audio.

The Joe Rogan Experience

Joe Rogan’s podcast will stream live, in video, on Spotify in September.

In June a source close to the audio streaming company tipped us that Spotify are aiming to go into direct competition with YouTube by implementing video integration into their service.

Our source added, “not only will the video integration show music videos to your favourite songs, you can also watch live events.”

Tech blogger Jane Wong later confirmed that Spotify were, indeed, working on video integration when she shared a picture of the developer interface. The picture revealed that users will be able to switch between Canvas, art work, and video.

New evidence that Spotify is setting up video streaming for Esports means it could be the perfect new home for Dr. Disrespect.

Furthermore, below the play feature is what appears to social media feed called “storyline” where the artist may post updates.

Jane added that Spotify have huge plans moving forward, and they creating a brand new service currently called “Spotify Gold” which will use SaaS (Software as a Service). SaaS is considered to be one of the best platforms for streaming lives sports and, potentially, Esports.

Upon closer inspection, Spotify Gold appears to be creator based content subscription system much like Twitch’s tier based and YouTube’s member service.

Herschel aka Guy “Dr. DisRespect” Beahm did show interest in Spotify after he heard that they had struck an exclusive deal with Joe Rogan, and now people are wondering whether his ban had anything do with him being poached by them.

Beahm revealed that he met with Joe Rogan producer Jaime Vernon, shortly after Rogan signed a multi-million deal with Spotify back in May.

Dr. DisRespect Spotify Gold

New evidence points to Dr. DisRespect and Spotify Gold deal as audio giant moves in to video hosting/streaming territory.

“It is likely that Spotify outright purchased The Doc’s contract from Twitch Interactive, Inc. That would why we haven’t seen, let alone heard of, any legal activity. A similar thing happened to Ninja and Shroud when they signed with Mixer, Twitch removed their partnership and verification,” an industry analyst told Sausage Roll.

One of Dr. DisRespect’s close and personal friends, Nickmercs, said that people will find out what happened to Dr. DisRespect come September, the same month Spotify will launch their video integration.

Considering the calibre of Dr. DisRespect’s channel and Twitch exclusivity deal, there is absolutely no way Guy Beahm would have risked getting banned by, as per Twitch, violating their terms and conditions. If The Doc is heading to Spotify, the most likely scenario is that a deal would have been made between them and Twitch.

It interesting to note that only a few weeks before Dr. DisRespect was permanently banned from Twitch, Dr. DisRespect surfaced as an artist on Spotify and has since posted two tracks in collaboration with PlayaKO: Run and Drippin.

The latter track, Drippin, echoes similar language seen in a message on Nickmercs stream that reportedly came directly from Dr. DisRespect himself.

The message read: “It’s not the audio… check the records and VODS. Barely laying on a lounge chair right now. I hear everything. The ponytail is still drippin’, and the two-time never slippin’. Twitch needs a scapegoat? I ain’t even trippin’.”

Whether or not Dr. DisRespect is heading to Spotify remains unconfirmed, but this information may be suffice to give the Champions Club a shimmer of hope for a Dr. DisRespect return.
