Uber won’t support family of driver who was murdered in DC carjacking

Date:

Mohammad Anwar, 66, was brutally murdered by two teenage girls in a carjacking gone wrong yesterday yet despite the nature of the crime Uber refuses to support the family of the victim.

An American-Pakistani Uber Eats driver, Mohammed Anwar, was brutally murdered in broad daylight yesterday. Two black teenage girls, 13 and 15, armed with a taser attempted to hijack his car but when he refused to get out off his own vehicles, they brutally attacked him resulting in a fatal crash that took his life.

Carjacking of Uber Eats driver ends in fatality in DC, USA — Mohammed Anwar drove the girls to Nationals Park where he pulled his car over and a struggle ensued between them. Anwar refused to give up his car while an enraged black teen hit and kicked him trying to eject him from his own vehicle. Failing to overpower the 66-year-old American-Pakistani immigrant worker, the teenager used a taser on him which made him seize up. With half of his body outside the car, he was pinned between the door and the driver’s seat as the teens allegedly put the vehicle in gear, the New York Post reported

Sadly the car eventually overturned sending Anwar flying out of the vehicle. As he lay dying on the sidewalk the National Guard left him lying on the ground instead offering to aide the two young black females to safety.

One of the perpetrators walked over Anwar’s lifeless body showing absolutely no remorse for the man’s life and insisted that the national guard assist her in retrieving her phone from the car.

Anwar was declared deceased upon the arrival of paramedics, but by that time both of the suspects had already received full medical attention.

Uber refuses to donate to family.

A bystander managed to capture the car jacking and the violent crash on video. Once it was uploaded to Twitter it went viral, yet despite the outcry from people Uber have refused support Anwar’s mourning family. However, Uber did comment when a local news station reached out for a comment regarding Anwar’s murder.

“We are devastated by this tragic news and our hearts go out to Mohammad’s family during this difficult time,” an Uber spokesperson said, according to affiliate WTOP. “We’re grateful the suspects have been arrested and thank the Metropolitan Police Department for their diligence with this investigation.”

Uber, in the past, have shown support for two known criminals who unfortunately died as a result of arrests gone wrong. They’ve had no issue tweeting about George Floyd and donating a million dollars to help his family, however they have not acknowledged Anwar’s death and, according to our sources, have no plans on helping his family.

Community raise half a million for his family.

Instead the community has worked together to help support Anwar’s family by creating a GoFundMe page that has now amassed nearly USD$600 thousand.

Mohammed Anwar

The GoFundMe page reads: “Mohammad Anwar was a hard-working Pakistani immigrant who came to the United States to create a better life for him and his family. He was simply at work yesterday evening, providing for his family, when his life was tragically taken in an appalling act of violence. The details are still being investigated, however we know that Anwar was working on an UberEats delivery when two assailants attempted to carjack him in Navy Yard.”

His family have responded to the news of his tragic murder, saying “words can not describe how our family is feeling currently. Devastation, confusion, shock, anger, heartache, and anguish are just a few that come to mind. We will carry him with us always, but it doesn’t take the pain away of losing him so tragically and so unexpectedly soon.”

DC mayor blames victim.

The mainstream media has been blasted for misrepresenting the story. CNN and The Washington Post have both called the death of Mohammed Anwar a “terrible accident” instead of a felony murder.

DC mayor, Muriel Bowser, made a short statement about his death and where she seemingly blamed the victim for not taking the proper precautions to prevent this from happening.

Muriel Bowser

Bowser insinuated that the two teenage back girls were the real victims and added that, “auto theft is a crime of opportunity.” A term used by many politicians to defend lootinsgs.

Bowser later doubled down and, instead of condemning the violence, said that Mohammad Anwar would still be alive if he took the necessary precautions to stop the carjacking.

The DC Police Deparment have confirmed that the two girls have been charged with felony murder and armed carjacking.
