If you’re more of a fan of RPG games, then this phone can support some of the latest titles without any signs of lag. Previously, the recipe for a good gaming phone was more power, more battery and more screen. ASUS are trying to change the game though, with the company altering the course of what phones could look like in the future. This device is still able to offer the best gaming performance in the industry, but with a smaller battery to allow for wireless charging. Gamers on the go will rejoice in this feature, as it makes it much easier to keep the phone powered.

The phone’s got a top-tier 8 Gen 3 chipset, with a whopping 1TB of storage. The phone is also very water resistant and the camera is good too. The reason why this phone stands out is that, although it is a solid option for gaming, it doesn’t compromise everyday use, helping the phone to appeal to a much broader audience.

Nubia RedMagic 9 Pro

The RedMagic 9 Pro was also released in January, and it’s superb value for money. It’s got an incredible battery life and the performance is top-tier. Nubia’s line of RedMagic gaming phones has always focused on embracing the latest hardware while remaining competitive in pricing. The latest release is no exception with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.

It’s also got a gaming mode switch, with an RGB fan integrated for active cooling. The display uses a 520Hz touch response rate with shoulder buttons to reinforce the gaming credentials. While improvements have been made to the phone when compared to predecessors, not everyone will be a fan of the RedMagic software that runs on the device. Even though it’s packed with a huge range of gaming features, such as AI algorithms that identify games and provide useful information during gameplay, some deem the software to be clunky and difficult to use. If you’re a gamer on a budget, however, it’s hard to argue with the price.

If you’re a gamer, then it’s a close call between the Nubia RedMagic 9 Pro and the ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro. If you’re on a tighter budget then you may be leaning to the Nubia, which is a solid choice. With that being said, if you have the budget to choose between both devices, the ASUS will offer a better gaming experience.
