Anita Sarkeesian and the rest Feminist Frequency are being called hypocrites for double standards after a promotional picture reveals an “extra feminised” cartoon of the hosts.
Anita Sarkeesian, somehow, is one of the most powerful women in the gaming industry and many people are concerned that her radical influence is ruining modern videogames.
Anita started by crowdfunding a YouTube video series that aimed to tackle sexist tropes in videogames. She heavily criticised the game’s industry for being dominated by men and her goal, or so she says, was to change that.
The series Anita Sarkeesian promised was entitled “Tropes vs. Women in Video Games.” Despite the Kickstarter campaign pulling in USD$156,000, Anita immediately failed to deliver on her promises.
After hearing concerns from he supporters, Anita Sarkeesian eventually delivered and released some of the episodes from her promised crowdfunded series.
Many slammed the series for being poorly researched, having stolen material, and appearing very low budget. People wondered whether any of the Kickstarter money actually went into the series.
Anita Sarkeesian “passionate lifelong gamer” called a hypocrite, again.
“I’ve seen small YouTubers create much better content with less experience and no budget. Where did all that money go, Anita?” A sceptical user posted on Twitter.
One of the many controversial points that Anita brought up in her series is how “male developers” design unrealistic and overly sexualised female characters.
“Games can and often do center women while also reinforcing harmful stereotypes or turning those women into sexual fantasies for the benefit of straight male players. Still, we can hope,” Anita wrote in her WIRED article.
“More and better representations of women remain an essential part of the change we hope to see in the videogame industry, but we can’t focus entirely on the games themselves,” she added.
Her detractors were quick to pull up up a promotional cartoon image of Anita Sarkeesian and Feminist Frequency Radio hosts to point out their clear double standards.

The image was called ‘brutally unrealistic’ by some as it looks nothing like the hosts of Feminist Frequency Radio.
“I’ve always seen that image as single-handedly the most hypocritical thing about Sarkeesian. She made her entire career about complaining about how women look pretty in games, but then hired an artist to do a brutally unrealistic and prettified version of themselves.”
“I should absolute post this on mendrawingwomen simply because its not at all anatomically correct to their real life counterparts Since realism matters right Probably get banned in less than 5 minutes though,” Archon The Dying posted on Twitter.

Anita Sarkeesian is crowdfunding for yet another video series that will “amplify the existing conversations happening about female characters in games.”
