LGBTQ+ flag exists in the post apocalyptic world of The Last of Us Part II

America has fallen in The Last of Us Part II but a large pride flag still hangs in some places and angry fans are burning them.

According to the developers at Naughty Dog gender identity is more important than national identity, and that is evident because the LBGTQ+ flag can be found proudly hanging in some places in The Last of Us Part II.

The Cordyceps Brain Infection may have been what brought the U.S. economy to ruins in The Last of Us but — as the sequel proves — the nationalist and Christian mentalities of some of the sects in the new game is, as written by Naughty Dog, the real virus. Yep, in The Last of Us Part II the humans are the real monsters.

Naughty Dog thought they’d throw in a couple of Easter Eggs in The Last of Us Part II to lighten a few people’s day, and it is the LGBTQ+ pride flag. So seemingly, in this post apocalyptic dystopia, people can still celebrate pride month and march the streets.

The developer received some backlash for allegedly forcing their political agenda down people’s throats and now, after the game has launched, a lot of people actually agree that The Last of Us Part II goes just a tad bit too far in pushing a certain ideology.

Many online personalities, including PewDiePie, feel that the game’s story and message is very inauthentic because of these forced in and divisive elements. Popular Twitch streamer Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp played through the entire game on his livestream and he was not impressed, giving it a 1 out of 10.

“What a steaming hot piece of sh*t,” Tyler1 said immediately after completing the game. “This is one of the worst games I’ve ever played.”

Tyler1 criticised the game for being broken and buggy saying that there’s no excuse for this game to be like an early access game after 7 years of development before ripping the story to pieces.

“I have no problem with the [adult] stuff, but they are clearly making gender identity a big part of this. They are definitely trying to push this whole ‘death to the patriarchy’ agenda. All the male characters die, so they can set up a cringe ‘all female’ story-line,” he added.

A lot of people enjoy playing games as a form of escapism, especially today considering what is going on in the world around us, but The Last of Us Part II does not grant the gamer this comfort and forced modern real world politics.

The villains are Christians, the men are dumb, and the only flag you will find in the The Last of Us Part II is the LGBTQ+ pride flag… not even the USA flag. Fans are so fed up with the forced real world politics that they are burning the LBTQ+ pride flag in-game.

The Last of Us Part II is receiving critical acclaim from large gaming presses and is even being called ‘the best videogame ever made’, but user reviews tell a different story. Despite claims from the Naughty Dog president that the game is being review bombed, most reaction videos echo the sentiments written in the user reviews.
