Jim Carrey in Kidding is the best streamed show since House of Cards

Date:

Netflix really set the standard for original series when they made House of Cards and no series has been able to live up to it until Kidding.

House of Cards starring Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright was the greatest original series available on any streaming service. Even Netflix struggled to produce content that matched that show, as a matter of fact not many shows have even come close to dethroning the political thriller… until now.

QUESTION: Will James Bond die in No Time To Die?

Kidding was ultimate Jim Carrey’s return to form after a long bout of depression. He teamed up with the writer of Weeds, Dave Holstein, and visionary director Michael Gondry to produce this masterpiece.

This isn’t the first time Jim Carrey and Michel Gondry have worked together; the movie which title is based on the poem by Alexander Pope, ‘Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind’ was their first film together.

Michel Gondry brings the astonishing cinematography and mind boggling practical effects with him to Showtime’s Kidding and it really helps the series stand out from others.

But it’s more than just amazing cinematography and direction that makes Kidding of of the best streamed shows since House of Cards, it’s the incredibly unique story told through the lives of interesting characters.

But when this beloved personality’s universe begins to crumble, Jeff finds no fairy tale or fable or puppet will guide him through the crisis, which advances faster than his means to cope. As Jeff struggles with being a kind man in a cruel world, he’s forced to ask himself if he’s having a breakdown or a breakthrough.

Is Mr. Pickles in Kidding supposed to be Mr. Rogers?

Kidding is like a fictional retelling of the story of Mr. Rogers, but with Mr. Pickles instead, that is laced in dark humour. Despite the many dark themes this show tackles, against all odds, it still manages to remain charming and whimsical.

The first season finale made my jaw drop to the ground and I just couldn’t wait for Kidding season 2… and it is finally available on Showtime, or on Stan here in Australia. Suffice to say, after just 4 episodes, season 2 does not disappoint.

Jim Carrey, Judy Greer, Catherine Keener, and Frank Gallela deliver award winning performances in this mature dark comedy series. It’s one of, if not, the best, original series currently available for streaming. You must check it out, especially now that Kidding season 2 is out.

Although it is not fully confirmed, it is clear that Mr. Pickles from Kidding is inspired by Mr. Rogers, and Jim Carrey absolutely nails the performance.
