YouTube have broken silence on the Leafy ban citing the reason for his suspension being “severe.” He will not be allowed back on their platform.
This weekend Calvin Lee Vail, a YouTuber known as Leafy (LeafyIsHere), had his channel with several millions subscribers suspended from YouTube. YouTube have remained quiet on the ban, until now.
Leafy — aka LeafyIsHere — is no stranger to controversy as he’s known for kicking the proverbial hornets nest. He is famous for criticising channels and content creators much larger than him and, in turn, their fans usually respond by falsely flagging his content.
Leafy has seen several videos age restricted, demonetised, or even outright removed from the platform due to disgruntled fans of his peers reporting his videos.
Until now, every single video that had been removed or falsely flagged had been reinstated after manual review. YouTube staff members confirmed that his content was not violating any of YouTube’s rules and guidelines.
However, they have suddenly changed their minds.
The Leafy ban is permanent.
Esports reporter Rod Breslau shared the reason for Leafy’s ban on Twitter earlier today claiming that it was for “severe” infringements of YouTube’s policies.

The tweet reads: “Leafy’s YouTube account has been terminated due to ‘multiple or severe violations of YouTube’s policy prohibiting content designed to harass, bully, or threaten.'”
Leafy had no prior active strikes on his channel to warrant an immediate suspension which means that his suspension was not automated.
An unnamed source told us that the decision to ban Calvin Lee Vail was made after a representative, or and\ associate, of a major content creator had contacted YouTube on Friday evening.

A similar thing happened to Dr DisRespect in July. Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV was suddenly, and mysteriously, banned from Twitch without so much as an explanation. Still to this day the two-time champ claims not to know the reason.
But the very first bit of intel alleged that a major female Twitch streamer who signed an exclusivity contract with the live streaming platform was unhappy with her deal and sent damaging private messages allegedly sent by Guy to Twitch and Discord in order to have him banned.
Pokimane was suspected of being behind the ban because she signed an exclusivity deal with Twitch the same month that Dr DisRespect did.
Regardless, YouTube have confirmed that the ban is final and that Leafy will not be returning to their platform.
