Ricky Gervais probably won’t return for another Golden Globes

Date:

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association hates him but the people love him, but, according to some sources, the British comedian took things too far this time.

Gervais had some choice things to so in this year’s Golden Globes and while most of us mere mortal cheered from the comfort of our own couches, the Hollywood elite were not too thrilled about the jokes made at their expense.

Did you know?

The 58-year-old comedian has a bit off a reputation for being brutally savage with his, no holds barred, jokes. He will make fun of pretty much anything, there’s nothing too controversial for him.

Gervais was hit by cancel culture when he made a joke about newly transitioned Caitlyn Jenner and women drivers yet still came through the bombardment of hate unscathed ultimately making him immune to punts from politically correct pundits.

The savagery behind Gervais’s jokes is in the ‘funny because it’s true’ nature to them. This is one of the reasons why so many voted him back for a fifth crack at the Golden Globes. This time, however, Ricky Gervais went for the jugular.

Gervais makes Epstein Didn’t Kill Himself joke

The Epstein case is probably one of the biggest scandals in recent history yet nobody in Hollywood is talking about it, and that is because most a-list actors have, at one point or another, interacted with the disgraced financier.

When the comedian dropped Epstein’s name the atmosphere at the Golden Globes got tense. “I’m sorry for your loss, I know Epstein was your friend, and now that he’s dead, a lot of you had to fly here in your own private jets,” Ricky Gervais joked.

Moments before he died Epstein revealed the names of world leaders and Hollywood celebrities who had been guests on his private jet dubbed the ‘Lolita Express’ and who had allegedly visited his ‘Island of Sin’. Among some of the names that surfaced in Epstein’s black book were Hollywood royalty like Alec Baldwin and Dustin Hoffman.

Gervais slammed actors for using the platform to give political lectures

Sick of the double standards and hypocrisy of the Hollywood billionaires, Gervais joked that the actors had no moral ground to lecture the rest of the world on their political ideologies, “collect your award, thank your agent, and your god, and get the f*** off stage.”

“None of you know what the real world is like and probably spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg,” Gervais said while pointing out the corrupt companies and governments the actors collect money from. “If ISIS opened up a streaming service you guys would probably be on the phone with your agents in a heartbeat.”

Gervais has already stated that he won’t return to host another Golden Globes so he “doesn’t care” but a source close to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association claims that they have no interest inviting him back after “his distasteful joke about people of colour in the in memoriam segment.”

Gervais joke was about the “wokeness” of Hollywood and how they are so focused on being diverse for diversities sake, and how the ‘in memoriam’ segment of the show is grossly racist because there aren’t enough people of colour represented.
